The MindBody Garden: It’s a doozy. We all know this—what you do habitually, you continue doing—and breaking a habit and instituting a new behavior can be no trivial thing. Again, the good news: you’ve got this. You can totally do it. For something small, commit to 30 days of the new behavior, and generally it will become a new habit. For behavioral vines with deep roots…well, those are more difficult, but if you want to change, no root is endless. Every one can be dug out. Even the most tenacious bindweed can be defeated eventually with consistent pulling. This was a huge realization: my mind and body are like a garden, and as the gardener I have the absolute right and responsibility to pull the weeds and nurture the flowers every day. This has become my highest priority, over anything else I might be called to do. Self-care comes first. Physical exercise, good nutrition, good rest, meditation, and brain retraining. Nothing is more important than this. #blindcontours #contourdrawingshow
